European Companies are Winning the Air Pollution Equipment Orders in Cement Plants in the U.S. and ROW

European companies are obtaining a majority of the orders for air pollution control systems worldwide. They lead in numbers of orders for fabric filters, scrubbers, precipitators and NOx control systems. These successes are chronicled in the McIlvaine Cement Plant and Project Tracking System.

The activity at the IEE Cement Conference and Exhibition held in April in Orlando, Florida included stands by the following European companies:











Andritz has expanded from its European base with a number of acquisitions of air pollution companies. The most recent acquisition was Allied Environmental Solutions, a U.S. based company with fabric filters and dry scrubbers. Bedeshi exhibited its bulk handling equipment at the show. The company is based in Italy and works in cement plants around the world.  A subsidiary CTP Tean Srl specializes in dust control. In Turkey, it has been converting precipitators to fabric filters as well as installing fabric filters in new plants.

BWF is a supplier of filter media and bags. It has developed high performance products for cement companies. FLS supplies complete cement plants. It also supplies fabric filters, precipitators and SNCR systems. A unique process based bleed stream provides a solution for mercury removal. FLS is the largest worldwide supplier of air pollution control equipment for cement plants. It is also a major supplier of replacement bags.

Redecam is offering fabric filter systems with dry lime injection. The company is supplying the combination systems in Chile to Group Cement Polpaico and has sold systems in six continents (including Antarctica).

A European based company is also leading the campaign to install low dust SCR systems. GEA Bischoff installed an SCR system at Südbayer, Portland-Zementwerk (SPZ) in Rohrdorf., Germany. The unit is installed downstream of the particulate collector. A heat exchanger also from GEA raises the gas temperature to 250oC. The installation after the dust collector greatly extends catalyst life.

In the next 18 months, there will be orders let for nearly one hundred air pollution systems in the U.S. due to the new Cement MACT rule. European companies are well positioned to benefit from this activity.
